Cervantes’s story of the bumbling knight Don Quixote has inspired countless artistic interpretations. Marius Petipa choreographed this sparkling ballet about the encounters of the man from La Mancha and his faithful squire Sancho Panza. At its heart are virtuoso roles for the lovers Basilio and Kitri. Carlos Acosta chose this joyful classic for his first production for The Royal Ballet. His vibrant staging brings together the whole Company in such roles as exuberant villagers, passionate gypsies and even fantasy flowers. The story follows Don Quixote’s picaresque journey to do deeds in honourof his imaginary noble lady, Dulcinea. Sunny, charming, funny and touching – Don Quixote is a ballet as full of uplifting emotion as it is of astonishing ballet technique.

Regarded with awe throughout themusic world, Lee “Scratch” Perry holds status as one of the most enduring andoriginal reggae producers and artists of all time. From his early days in the 1960’s as a singerand engineer for Coxsone Dodd’s Studio One in Kingston, through his productionof the seminal Wailers’ classics African Herbsman and SoulRevolution, Perry’s innovative style marks him as one of reggae’s originaltreasures. His on the edge creativegenius remains evident in his own solo albums of the 1970’s through his steadystream of mind-boggling releases of the 1980’s.
One of reggae’s undisputedpioneers, Lee “the Upsetter” Perry has worked with almost everyone from theHeptones to the Skatalites to the Clash. Certainly one of his most notable contributions was the pairing of BobMarley, to Peter Tosh, and Bunny Wailer with the Barnet Brothers (Carley and“Familyman” who had been the heart of the Perry’s group, the Upsetters) andthus the forming of the Bob Marley and the Wailers.
After his own studio, “BlackArk,” burned to the ground in the late 1970’s, Perry laid low for a while, onlyto resurface with a vengeance in England in the mid-1980’s. He went back into the studio with a varietyof partners, from Adrian Sherwood to Terence Trent D’Arby. During this time, Perry took up residence inthe Swiss Alps (“The mountains give me the fresh Swiss air to replenish mystructure so I can soon join the immortal race”). Proof positive that talent on this scale willwin out no matter what, since the “madman” has come down from the mountain, theWorld Music market has been gifted with more Lee Perry Product.
Perry’s stream of consciousnessrants have been called the babblings of the lunatic by some to the offerings ofa prophet by others. Either way, hisunique dubbing style is infectious. Often, the words are broken down into theirpurest elements, sound and feeling. Perry’s groundbreaking use of sound effects, echo reverb, and rewindadds a new dimension to the folk tradition of Reggae and has influencedcountless other artists.
In his plethora of newermaterial, “Scratch” expounds on his favourite themes of extraterrestrials, judgment, justice, corruption, carnality, and self proclamation, all over somekiller riddims.
Always one to follow the beat ofhis own drummers, the eccentric genius Perry continues to break new ground withthe hardest rebel Rasta tunes and the most unpredictable instrumentaldubs. Lee Perry has most recently beentouring Europe, riveting both old and new fans with a full measure of hisblessings.
The “Upsetter” charges forwardmaking music that recalls African roots, at the same time, it reaches for thevastness of the outer space.
Lee isperhaps the only 80 + year old that can dance on one leg for 1 hour straight!

There are many versions of the story of Faust, who trades his soul with the Devil for youth and power, but Gounod’s opera remains one of the most constantly enthralling. Michael Fabiano stars as Faust, with Diana Damrau as his beloved Marguerite and Erwin Schrott as the diabolical Méphistophélès.Virtuoso leading roles, a large chorus, sensational sets, ballet and anecstatic finale make this the epitome of theatrical spectacle – the lavish scale of French grand opera is wonderfully in evidence in this production by David McVicar, set in 1870s Paris. Above all, the music includes several of popular opera’s most recognizable numbers, performed by a cast of great international singers and the Royal Opera Chorus.
Met Music Director Yannick Nézet-Séguin leads Poulenc’smasterpiece. This devastating portrayal of faith and martyrdom is live in HDfor the first time.

Shakespeare’s enduring love story is known the world over.Since its 1965 premiere with The Royal Ballet, Kenneth MacMillan’s Romeo and Juliet has become a modern ballet classic. The choreography captures the emotions of the young couple as they fall in love, despite the barriers that finally bring about the story’s tragic end. Each revival gives opportunities for new dancers to interpret the doomed lovers. The whole Company brings the colour and action of Renaissance Verona, where a busy market all too quickly bursts into sword fighting, and a family feud leads to tragedy for both the Montagues and Capulets.
Limehouse Lizzy continue to keep the spirit of Celtic rock icon Philip Lynott and his band Thin Lizzy alive, well and dominating stages worldwide. The band have also added a tribute into their show to ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist (and world renowned solo artist) Gary Moore.
From their Official PRS award, performing for Virgin Atlantic in Barbados, T.V. appearances (BBC 2’s ‘Arena’ amongst others), and to actually being recruited to record and tour by members of the original Thin Lizzy, Limehouse Lizzy enter their 21st year with their most explosive show and critically-acclaimed line-up yet.
Despite international tours (UAE, Germany and previously USA, Scandinavia, Caribbean etc.), corporate clients (Mitsubishi, NatWest) and even book appearances (The Rocker, Send In The Clones), they’ve shoehorned a co-headline tour with tribute giants Livewire into 2016, along with their own stand-alone tour, in what will be an exhausting year-long schedule. The boys are back!
