Celebrating their 25th anniversary as the best touring tribute to Thin Lizzy, the Limehouse gents return to Gloucester Guildhall for an extra special performance.
Limehouse Lizzy continue to keep the spirit of Celtic rock icon Philip Lynott and his band Thin Lizzy alive, well and dominating stages worldwide. The band have also added a tribute into their show to ex-Thin Lizzy guitarist (and world renowned solo artist) Gary Moore.
From their Official PRS award, performing for Virgin Atlantic in Barbados, T.V. appearances (BBC 2’s ‘Arena’ amongst others), and to actually being recruited to record and tour by members of the original Thin Lizzy, Limehouse Lizzy enter their 21st year with their most explosive show and critically-acclaimed line-up yet.
Despite international tours (UAE, Germany and previously USA, Scandinavia, Caribbean etc.), corporate clients (Mitsubishi, NatWest) and even book appearances (The Rocker, Send In The Clones), they continue to shoe horn long lists of tour dates into each year, luckily including Gloucester each year too!
The Doors Alive are a UK-based tribute band widely regarded as the closest and
most enthralling representation of the legendary 1960's rock gods, The Doors, in the
world today. The band formed in 2005. Since then there have been 3 Jims, 2 Rays,
2 Robbys and just 1 John, but the current line up is the best it has ever been!
The band re-create the sound, look, presence and magic of a real 1960's Doors
concert, perfectly and effortlessly transporting the audience back in time with
classic hits such as 'Light My Fire', 'When The Music's Over, Riders On The Storm, The
End and many more. The Doors Alive have over 1,000 shows under their belt to
Their frontman, Mike, captures the look, attitude, and rich baritone voice of the
late, great Jim Morrison with ease while his compadres showcase the musical
chops of original Doors members Ray Manzarek, Robby Krieger and John
Densmore with finesse and authenticity.
The Doors Alive have left awestruck audiences in 15 countries around the world,
including the UK, Ireland, France, Belgium, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany,
Austria, Poland, Slovenia, Malta, Greece, Turkey, Lebanon, UAE and Chile. They
repeatedly sell out some of the most well established venues in the UK, including
the 02 Academies. They have played at the legendary Isle of Wight Festival and
played on the same bill with such legendary musicians as Status Quo, Nazareth,
Uriah Heep, Hayseed Dixie, and Eric Burdon, to name but a few. In Chile the band
played an arena show to 4,500 Doors fans. They felt like we were back in the 60s
because they couldn't hear ourselves on stage! The crowd were so loud!!! In
Lebanon the guys were interviewed on national TV on a breakfast show. It was
quite surreal and they were told off by the presenter for accidentally mentioning
the name of a very popular beer! Free advertising :-) Oops…
To achieve their authentic sixties sound, the band use the very same instruments
that members of the Doors originally used. These include vintage keyboards such
as the Gibson G101 and the Fender Rhodes Bass, as well as the vintage Gibson
S.G. guitar and Ludwig Superclassic drumset in Mod Orange finish. They also use vintage Acoustic amplifiers.

BLACK GRAPE could only have beenmade in Manchester. The swagger, fun and cryptic humour seem hewn from a cityhistorian AJP Taylor once described as offering an archetypally different wayof English urban life to London. Both Shaun Ryder and Paul Leveridge, known asKermit, came from edgy-but-cool parts of the city. In Shaun’s case Salford, withKermit originating Moss Side.
So we have two restlessly creativemen, both from the wrong side of the tracks, neither inclined to go to artschool or enrol on an MFA programme, yet loaded with street smarts and musicaltalent, and wanting the world. Good old punk had told every scally they couldhave it, and a generation of us went for it in our own ways, with varyingdegrees of success. Shaun’s astonishing rise and fall with the Happy Mondays isthe stuff of legend.
As the friendship developed, so toodid a stunning collaboration. It’s Great When You’re Straight...Yeah,the ironically entitled album, which gave a nod to their hook up as drugsbuddies around the grizzled fag end of Happy Mondays and Kermit’s band TheRuthless Rap Assassins. It was a storming phoenix rising from the ashes of theother projects that seemed to have run their course.
It’s Great When YourStraight...Yeah wasone of my favourite albums of, well I’m calling Shaun from the airport inMilan, and he’s assuring me it was over twenty years ago. Black Grape followedthis up with Stupid, Stupid, Stupid, which, while not hitting the giddyheights of its predecessor, had enough moments to cement the band as a fixture.Then...nothing. Till now.
Shaun’s triumphs, struggles anddiversions have been well documented. The usual contract and money hassles, abest-selling account of life in the Mondays, a stunning electropunk album fromnowhere in Amateur Night in the Big Top, a serious and informativeinvestigation of UFO’s as an author and broadcaster, a reality TV bon vivantand finally, a life as a clean-living family man, which has supplanted hisold ways. And of course, there was the reformation of the Happy Mondays.
Years of hard living, however, hadtaken their toll on Kermit. He would develop health issues making a remarkablerecovery from his life-threatening condition and operation, and this would bethe catalyst for another Black Grape collaboration.
Black Grape are back on the road, and with new album Pop Voodoo that really does rock the **** out of thediscotheque. It’s a rewind to over twenty years ago and the glory days. Shaun’sword play has never been deployed to such devastating effect, and he scores abullseye whether he hits the obvious targets (Trump), and the more obscureones...well, find out for yourself. The world is in a bit of a state right now,and bull reigns more than ever, and perversely disguised as candour. We needManc street sass, intelligence and wit more than ever right now. This album hasthat in spades.
Pop Voodoo was released on 4thAugust 2017 on UMC.
